Past the halfway point, five-fish limits have been relatively easy to come by—but size is proving to be the challenge. With many bass in the same weight class, ounces will make a big difference today and over the course of the three-day event. With the afternoon bite ahead, we’ll see who climbs the FISHING CHAOS CATCH TRACK leaderboard.

As expected, on-the-water reports confirm a split approach. Some anglers started on ledges, trying to get into rotation early on the best offshore schools, while others pushed shallow, targeting bushes as rising water continues to push fish to the bank.

TVA veteran Buddy Gross currently sits atop the unofficial CATCH TRACK with 16 pounds, anchored by a 4-pound kicker. He holds a narrow lead over Alabama’s Scott Canterbury, who’s posted 15-7 so far.

Tim Cales, Brandon Cobb, and Nick Brown round out the current top five with solid early limits. So far, 97 anglers have logged catches, with over 90 limits reported.

Live coverage resumes on Days Two and Three and will provide more insight into how the top anglers are staying consistent.

Current Top 10 (Unofficial):
Buddy Gross – 16-0
Scott Canterbury – 15-7
Tim Cales – 14-15
Brandon Cobb – 14-5
Nick Brown – 13-11
Tim Fredrick – 13-1
Wayne Crosby – 12-15
Brad Staley – 12-4
Jesse Millsaps – 11-14
Todd Auten – 11-13
