Logan Stays Hot in Oklahoma, Leads NPFL on Eufaula

That hot streak continues for the Alabama pro heading into Finale Friday.

Improved weather gave the NPFL field a chance to finally get after it on Lake Eufaula, but rising water and lingering storms still kept things interesting. With Day One canceled due to severe weather, the two-day shootout is officially on—and after one round, Wes Logan is once again on top in Oklahoma.

Fresh off an Elite Series win last week on Lake Tenkiller, Logan kept the momentum going with 19 pounds, 6 ounces to take the lead. He made the right call this morning, settling into a spot he liked during practice—one he hadn’t even made a cast in yet—and landed two big bites to anchor his limit.

Just behind him, Brandon Cobb weighed in 19-0, and Corey Casey dropped 18-2 to round out a tight top three. All three leaned on shallow water, as the offshore game took a hit with fresh runoff dirtying up key ledge areas.

Jason Burroughs weighed 13-15, anchored by a 7-12 kicker that currently leads for Big Bass.

Logan Keeps It Rolling

With a short practice mostly spent riding and looking, Logan had just a handful of areas he felt decent about. When he left the dock this morning, he trusted his gut—and it paid off.

“I thought the area had the most potential and gave me a chance to fish around all day and break down the water,” Logan said. “I got going quickly, even though I lost one on my very first cast. But that third bite was the big one, and it settled me down.”

That big one—5.25 pounds—got him in rhythm. He rotated between flipping and casting to build his bag, then bailed before the crowd rolled in.

“The field caught them better than I thought, and my area got crowded—but that’s part of it here,” he said. “I didn’t learn a ton today, but I narrowed a few things down that’ll help tomorrow. I’m not as confident as I was last week at Tenkiller, but I’ll figure something out.”

Logan’s hoping to get back on one of his main stretches for Finale Friday, but he knows he’ll probably need to adjust on the fly. He saw several boats in his area after he left—but he’s not sweating it.

“I saw a few guys in there, as expected. I’m not even mad,” he said. “The last week’s been wild—I haven’t even processed it all yet. I’m just finally making good decisions and executing. That spot isn’t the only place with fish. If I can get something going early to settle in again, I’ll mix it up—flipping and throwing a bunch of moving baits. I think it’s more about the techniques right now than the exact spot.”

Cobb Commits to the Bushes

Brandon Cobb put together his second-place bag early in the day, flipping in a high-pressure area of the lake. Despite trying to find something off the beaten path during practice, the cleaner water still held fish—and Cobb didn’t overthink it.

“I’ve learned my lesson on flooded bushes before,” Cobb laughed. “If it’s flooded, chances are they’re living there. I committed to flipping in practice and stuck with it all day until I had what I needed.”

After boxing his weight, Cobb backed off and started looking around for Day Two. He mixed in a spinnerbait, which didn’t do much, but plans to return to his primary area and lean on the same game plan.

“With only two days and a ton of boats in the area, it’s probably a good thing this is a short event,” he said. “Three days would’ve really worn it out. I still think there are fish in there for tomorrow, and I’ve got a shot.”

If it gets tough, Cobb says he’s ready to adjust.

“Depending how it plays out, I may slide out midday and hit some new stuff,” he said. “But for now, I’m sticking with that flipping bait and getting back after it.”

Casey Holds Strong in Third

Corey Casey sits in third with 18-2, just ahead of local legend Tommy Biffle, who brought in 17-13. Both are well within striking distance heading into Finale Friday—where one bite could swing the leaderboard in a big way.
