Anglers launched this morning into 75-degree mostly cloudy conditions with winds less than 10 mph. Similarly, to yesterday, some wind may affect anglers first thing before slicking off in the afternoons with a chance of thunderstorms projected as weigh-in begins.
The top five anglers are separated by just over a pound while the top three are within 3-ounces. Day one saw 3 bags over the 20-pound mark with lots of 5+ pound bass brought to the scales. The day one big bass is owned by non-other than LunkersTV, Rob Terkla with an 8-pound, 2-ounce beast to anchor his 19-pound bag good enough for 6th place. See the overall leaderboard, here.
The top 5 in the Progressive AOY Standings before this event looked something like this.
- Nick Prvonozac
- David Gaston
- Keith Carson
- John Soukup
- Marc Schilling
After day one of competition on Harris Chain, 4 of the top 10 are within the top 11 while leader Nick Prvonozac weighed in a respectable 14-pounds, 2-ounces and finished the day in 25th. With an 11-point lead over David Gaston and Gaston sitting 10th, it looks like some changes are shaping up with shuffling of the top guys. Nothing is official at this point, but with 2 more days of the full field fishing this week, some changes are in store. It is something to keep an eye on.
More stable weather for today, and lots of limits caught, anything can happen with one swing of the rod. Big fish are plentiful and we are sure to see anglers flip flopping on the leaderboard.
