Mike’s life took a different turn when he joined the military, serving for 9 years with tours in Iraq, Somalia, and Bosnia. Facing stage four colon cancer at the beginning of the 2023 season, Mike’s fishing career was put on hold, but with the support of his wife, his faith, and medical treatment, he triumphed over the disease and is now cancer-free. Despite facing neuropathy as a side effect of his treatment, Mike is determined to return to competitive fishing and make a comeback this season. His story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
