We’re halfway through Day Two, and Lake Norman continues to give up plenty of fish. The bite hasn’t let up, and anglers are still grinding through numbers in hopes of mixing in a few bigger largemouth to jump up in the standings. Live Coverage is underway with Luke and FatCat, bringing updates straight from the water on day two and day three from 8 AM to 1 PM.
With sunshine and temps pushing into the 70s, more anglers are leaning into shallow patterns. Beating the bank—especially around the lake’s endless docks—and hunting for spawners continues to be the dominant strategy. Wacky rigs and swim jigs are the go-to presentations, with local pro KJ Queen locking into key pockets holding bedding fish.
Hackney Hanging Around, Burroughs Takes Unofficial Lead
Day One leader Greg Hackney hasn’t updated his Fishing Chaos Catch Tracker just yet, but he’s reportedly sitting on a solid limit that should have him in contention again. Meanwhile, others are making moves. Jason Burroughs currently leads the unofficial leaderboard with 13-12, followed by Cole Harris with 11-11 and Joey Bloom with 11-8 on day two.
There’s still plenty of fishing left before weigh-in, and with water temps climbing, don’t be surprised if someone finds a few key bites this afternoon and makes a big move.
Live coverage continues today and tomorrow, giving fans a closer look at how the top anglers are staying consistent on a tricky Lake Norman.
The top ten look like this:
Jason Burroughs 28-3
Joey Bloom 25-13
Cole Harris 24-14
Scott Hamrick 24-11
Richard Kee 24-9
Corey Casey 23-7
KJ Queen 22-8
Justin Kimmel 22-3
Jason Reyes 22-2
Will Fletcher 22-2
