Angler Spotlight – Chris Kanute

Angler Spotlight - Here is where you get to be introduced to the inaugural group of anglers fishing the NPFL!

My wife Rebecca Richardson and I live on Lake Wylie in Fort Mill, SC. Chase, Justin, Ella and Ben make our blended family complete. My earliest fishing memories were with my Uncle JP on Smith Lake and with Ellie Merrill on the Warrior River. Began tournament fishing in my late 20’s.

Excited and humbled to be a member of the NPFL inaugural season and travel to different lakes competing against anglers from all over the country.

Cool fact: I quit tournament fishing around 2010 and helped start a high school fishing team at Hayden High School. I coached there for 8 years before moving to Lake Wylie and it was there I began coaching what is now the York County High School Anglers. I coached there for 4 years before retiring my coaching career. In 12 seasons of High School fishing we claimed 7 State Team of the Years (4 at Hayden and 3 at York County High School Anglers). I am forever grateful for all the years of coaching and look forward to this chapter in my life.

The League

Since the NPFL launched in 2021, the goal has remained the same: To prioritize anglers and establish a trail that aligns with the original intentions of competive bass fishing's founders.
