EUFAULA, ALABAMA – Leader John Soukup is on the board this morning with what we think is 2 fish for around 3.5-pounds. Soukup is dealing with local boats and working his way around looking for fish that will bite his jerkbait presentation. Although, from watching him on live, Soukup is fishing with a spinning rod looking for smaller bites to get his limit.

The big early move so far is David Gaston. Gaston went hunting for new water to keep throwing his swim jig and has executed big time. An early limit just under 15-pounds has bumped him into the early lead with a lot of time left.

Landon Tucker is executing his plan so far this morning and returned to that brush pile he fished for the first time yesterday.

“It was a pile I found in practice but I had not fished it until day 2. I caught 2 small keepers off it and I am going back to it first thing tomorrow.”

Well, the move paid off this morning as a 6-pounder joined a 2-pound, 12-ounce bass in Tucker’s boat. A switch from the jig to a spinnerbait and the big girl couldn’t resist. Tucker has over 150 brush piles marked in 8 to 12-foot of water and is going to fish as many as he can. He has a lot of time today to get back on his best brush and finish out a strong limit.

Brandon Perkins is riding a tough day 1 with more than 12-pounds on day 2 and a solid start to the final day. Perkins unofficially has over 11-pounds in the box and has moved into the top 10 early on this morning.

Since the NPFL launched in 2021, the goal has remained the same: To prioritize anglers and establish a trail that aligns with the original intentions of competive bass fishing's founders.
