Day One Mid-Day Update from Hartwell

It's lunchtime and Lake Hartwell is serving up some tasty action.

Story by Justin Brouillard | Photos by Tanner & Travis Lyons

Part way through day one, the fishing has been good to the NPFL anglers. As expected, a lot of fish are hitting the Weigh Live Tracker and 30 anglers have reported double digit weight limits. 78 of the 116 anglers this week have reported a catch and its likely due to poor signal, or some anglers not recording their catch, that more of the field has caught fish.  Off to the best start, Mike Corbishley has the day’s heaviest bag reported at 17-pounds 9-ounces. Corbishley is showing a five bass limit with a 4-pound 2-ounce kicker.

It’s being reported by photographers Tanner and Travis Lyons that the shad spawn deal seemed to be where most anglers began their day and were planning to move shallow to look at some spawning fish. The conditions are starting to brighten as the cloudy skies have turned to sun and with not much wind so far, the sight bite may help some anglers make critical culls going into the afternoon.

The Unofficial Top 10 looks like this:
1 Mike Corbishley 17-9
2 Kevin Rogers15-7
3 Drew Six 15-3
4 Dustin Williamson 14-12
5 Brandon Perkins 14-11
6 John Cox 14-4
7 Justin Kimmel 14-0
8 Cody Parker 13-11
9 Trent Palmer 13-10
10 Gary Adkins 13-3

There are two bass reported over 5 pounds with Drew Six making a recent cull with a 5-pound 5-ounce bass and Dustin Williamson with a 5-pounder of his own.

The League

Since the NPFL launched in 2021, the goal has remained the same: To prioritize anglers and establish a trail that aligns with the original intentions of competive bass fishing's founders.
